Music

There are many, many interesting software tools to help aspiring musicians write, play, or practice music, to name only a few applications. Some are free and/or open-source, while some are licensed.

In this area, I will discuss tools which I use in relation to music.

  • Audacity, (free) for creating or manipulating sound files
  • DLC Builder, (free) for converting Editor-on-Fire projects into Rocksmith downloadable content
  • Editor-on-Fire, (free) for assembling sound files and scores into Frets-on-Fire, Guitar Hero, or Rocksmith projects
  • GoPlayAlong, (licensable) to help synchronize a music file with musical scores
  • Guitar Pro, (licensable) a musical score editor
  • Rocksmith, (licensable) a game to help learn guitar or bass
  • TuxGuitar, (free) a musical score editor
